Sioux Center relatives and friends were shocked and saddened Monday by news of the accidental death of Simon Dykshoorn, brilliant young chemist engaged in research work at the Carnegie Institute's laboratory at Cold Spring on Long Island, New York.

The young man's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Dykshoorn of Sioux Center received a telegram Monday between four and five o'clock stating that their son had been accidentally killed while hunting. Press dispatches in the daily papers Tuesday morning supplied farther details that he had gone alone to the woods near the laboratory to shot crows had apparently stumbled over a stump and one barrel of his shotgun had discharged into the head, causing instant death. The body was discovered some three or four hours after the accident by associates at the laboratory.

Funeral services will be held in Sioux Center Saturday afternoon at the Frist Reformed church. Mr. Dykjshoorn was 30 years of age . He was graduate of Northwestern Academy, Hope college and did post graduate work at Iowa university. His research work recently recieved widespread recoganition, when he was named in an article in the Literary Digest as co-discoverer with Dr. Oscar Biddle and Dr. Robert Bates of a gland secretion named hormome which causes the production of mothers milk in a gland at the base of the skull. He worked was in the department of genetics.

He is survied by his parents and eight brothers and sisters, Mrs.Wm Brandtsen Mrs. John Sneller of Sioux Center Martin and William, of Hawarden; Marion, Edward, Eldine and Margaret of Sioux Center. One brother, John preceded him in death some years ago. The family has the sympanty of many friend in the passing of the son and brother whose career was so bright and promising.
