Marion Dykshoorn,90, of Sheldon, died Saturday, October 14, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon. Services were Monday, October 16, at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon with the Rev. David Loveall officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Marion was born April 3, 1905, at Ireton, the son of William and Johanna (Vrymoet)Dykshoorn. He was raised in the Ireton & Sioux area and attended an electrial school in Chicago. He married Margaret Ann Vander Hoef at Sioux Center on August 21, 1939. They made their home in Rock Valley, where he was an electrician for Iowa Public Service. Arthristis forced him to end his electrical career in 1947. They then moved to Sheldon, where he was employed by the De Jong and Fedders Hatchery. In the late 1950's he became transportation supervisor for the Sheldon Public School, retiring in 1970. The couple became resident of the Christian Retirement Home in 1990. He transferred to the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon on July 18 of this year. He was a member of Bethel Reformed Church, where he sang bass in the in the Bethel Quartet and the church choir. He was also active in the church's Men's Brotherhood. For many years he also sang with the Apollo Club.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Mae Dykshoorn of Mason City; a son and his wife William Dean and Marsha Dyksfoorn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Harriet) Franken of Pella and Mrs. Dave (Margaret) Roelofs of Sioux Center; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
