WILLIAM "BILL" WALLENBURG
April 6, 1925 ---January 7, 2005
FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday,
January 12, 2005 at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden, Iowa
INTERMENT: Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden. Iowa
William "Bill" Wallenburg was born April 6, 1925 at Edna, Iowa, the son of Ring and Winnie (Harskamp) Wallenburg. He was a self-employed contractor for over 40 years, making his home in Hawarden. Bill married Gertrude Brunsting October 28, l976 at Alcester, South Dakota. She died May 4, 1999. Bill moved into the Hillcrest Health Care Center April 11, 2003 when his health started to decline.
He loved his family, fishing, gardening, playing cards and jokinėg with others, He was a character like no other and also was the Doon Horseshoe Champion.
Bill died Friday, January 7, 2005 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden as the age of 79 years.
Bill is survived by his previous wife. Trudy Smith: 7 children, Linda Harrison of Red Bluff California, Gloria and husband Eddie Hardy of Happy Valley, California, Laurene and husband Rick Proietti of Cottonwood. California, Steve and wife Kathy Wallenburg of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Pam Archer of Red Bluff, California, Bev and husband Pat Sumpter of North Pole, Alaska and Michael and wife Gayleen Wallenburg of Burney, California: a step-son, Roger Brunsting and wife Evelyn of Merrill, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren 2 brothers, Henry and wife Verna Wallenburg of Modesto, California and Rich and wife Minnie Wallenburg of Rock Valley, Iowa; 4 sisters, Christina Kersbergen of Rock Valley, Iowa, Alyda and husband Hans Burgers of Sioux Center, Iowa, Gertrude and husband Matt Huisruan of Rock Valley, Iowa and Wilma and husband Albert Van Beck of Artesia. California; 2 sisters-in-law, Mabel Wallenburg of Lakewood, California and Mina Wallenburg of Artesia, California; and a special friend Adel Veach of Hawarden.
Bi11 was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Mike Harrison: a great-grandchild, Susan Isabella Wallenhurg; and 4 brothers, Tony, Gilbert, Ring and John.
