Mrs. Stephen Ekdom,sr.,84,mother of John and Neal Ekdom of Ireton, died last night last Friday at a Denver, Colo., hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock at the John Ekdom home and at 1:30 at the Christian Reformed church with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery under the direction of the Satterlee Funeral home.

Grietje Van Zanten Ekdom was born February 24, 1875 in The Netherlands. In 1897 she married Stephen Ekdom and the couple came to the United State in 1913. They came to Sioux county in 1918 where he died January 20, 1957.

Survivors include two sons, John and Neal, both of Ireton; two daughters, Mrs. Gabriel Vander Kooy and Mrs. Arie Hofwegen both of Chino, Calif; 21 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren.
