Funeral services for Mrs. Anne Hedden, 71, who died at the Burnigbt Nursing home early Monday
morning, were held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church, Fr. L. Friedman officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's
cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home.
Mrs. Hedden had been in failing health and was cared for at the B;urnight home over a year. She
had suffered a hip break and more recently broke her wrist.
Anne Kavanaugh was born December 29, 1886, at Spink, S. D. on April 16, 1917, she married
Wayne Hedden of Big Springs, Emmett, S. D. They farmed in South Dakota and later near Hawarden.
Mr. Hedden was drowned in the Big Sibux river near here while cutting ice in the winter of 1928. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Patricia Geraldine
who died in infancy, a twin brother and a sister.
Mrs. Hedden, a member of St. Mary's Guild, was in St. Theresa's circle. For 16 years she was employed at the Hawarden Community Hospital.
She is survived by a son, Wayne, of Hawarden; six daughters, Mrs. John Van Wyhe, Mrs. Harold
Smith ;and Mrs. Lester De Vries, all.; of Ireton, Mrs. Art Klave of Akron, Mrs. Patrick Lee of Osceola, Wis., and Mrs. Bernard Smith
of Hawarden; three sisters, Mrs. Everett Reetz of Onawa, la., Mrs. Milo Fritzche of Huron, S. D., and Mrs.Vi Muriel Esser of Hawarden;
threeV;brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Kavanaugh of Spink and Ernest Kavanaugh of Huron, and 42
grandchildren.
The rosary was recited at the Barnard Funeral home Tuesday evening.
