Mrs. Fannie De Jong, nee Poortier, died at her home Friday, December 9, 1949, at the age of 74. She was born in Ommen, Netherlands, January 10, 1874.

She married Fred De Jong on March 2, 1899 and lived at Sioux Center first but soon came to the Rock Valley vicinity where she lived for the past forty years.

She is survived by nine children; William De Jong, Hammond, Ind., (Minnie) Mrs. Bartel Boogerd of Hull; Manus De Jong of Doon; (Alice) Mrs. E. J. Swier, Rock Valley; Henry De Jong, Rock Valley; (Winnie) Mrs. Case Visser, Rock Valley; Hattie De Jong at home, (Anna) Mrs. Albert Brunsting, Boyden; (Margaret) Mrs. Albert Kooiker, of Hull.

She is also survived by 48 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death five years ago. One son Herman and one grandson also preceded her in death.

She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Reka Bleeker of Estelline, SD. She was cared for lovingly by her daughter Hattie for eight years and eight months.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 12 at one o'clock at the home and 1:30 o'clock at the Christian Reformed Church at Rock Valley. Dr. Herman Kuiper, officiated. She was laid to rest in Valley View Cemetery.
