Mr. & Mrs. Peter Van Roekel received a telegram Thursday morning, April 21, informing them of the death of her brother, Rev. Fred De Jong, 56. Missionary to McKee, Kentucky who had suddenly passed away following a heart attack. Rev. De Jong was well known in this vicinity and throughout the Reformed Church of America. Sent forth into the Mastor's Vineyard 29 years ago, Rev. De Jong was continued zealously in the work of the evangelication of the Kentucky Mountain Whites. During his ministry, after about 12 years of service he married Miss Betty De Vries of Firth, Nebr. continuing at McKee. To them were born 3 children: Carolyn, 15; Gordon, 13; and Beth, 9, who with their mother survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday at McKee where interment was made. Going from here to attend the funeral of their brother were: Mr. & Mrs. Peter Van Roekel, Jno. De Kock, Hubert De Jong of Newkirk, Miss Bertha DeJong of Hull and Mrs. Wm. Duven of Cherokee.
