Edward DeJong, 85, of Hull, died Friday at the Rock Valley Hospital after a brief illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M., Monday in the First Christian Reformed Church at Hull. The Rev. Marvin Heyboer officiated. Burial was in Hope Cemetery.

Mr. DeJong was born Aug. 1, 1897, near Orange City. On Feb. 25, 1919 he married Dena Jellema at Sioux Center. They farmed west of Hull and retired in June, 1964 when they moved to town. His wife died Dec. 15, 1968. He entered the Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull in 1977.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur and Thomas, both of Hull; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Marilynn) Boote of Hull; a sister, Mrs. John (Sadie) Reinders of Orange City; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
