Matlock - John Reekers, 89, died Saturday in a nursing home in Sibley. Services will be at 1:30 P.M., today in the Matlock Reformed Church. The Rev. John Heeg will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Matlock under direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon.

Mr. Reekers, son of Art & Marenia Poelman Reekers was born Jan. 20, 1892, in Corsica, SD. He married Gertrude Nagel, Jan. 8, 1924 in Little Rock. She died July 4, 1968.

Survivors include four daughters, Darlene (Mrs. William) Eberly of Topeka, Kan., Betty (Mrs. Henry) Meyerhoff of Horse Shoe Bend, ARK., Marjorie (Mrs. L. T. ) McGinty of Rogers, ARK., and Georgia (Mrs. Richard) Klein of Graettinger; two sons, Vernon of Onalaska, WI, and Norman of Sheldon; one brother, Art of Oceanside, CA; three sisters, Mrs. Gert Douma of Sibley, Mrs. Mary Van Roekel of Sheldon, and Mrs. Nell Pekelder of El Cajon, CA; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Reekers was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters.
