Bras, Mrs. Harry (Minnie) - 1905-1990

Mrs. Minnie Bras, age 84, of Alton, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 1990, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.

Minnie, who was actually named Wilhelmina, was born Sept. 22, 1905, near Ireton, the daughter of John Peuse and Maggie Roelfson Peuse. She was raised in the Ireton-Maurice area.

On Jan. 28, 1931, she married Harry Bras at Orange City. They made their home in Alton most of their married life. Mr. Bras passed away Sept. 1, 1974, at Sioux City.

In July of 1983, Mrs. Bras became a resident of the Valley Manor in Rock Valley, and in April of 1985, she transferred to Sioux Center.

She was a member of the Reformed Church of Alton.

Survivors include her son, Leroy and his wife Carol of Hospers, daughter, Margaret and her husband Duane Vande Berg of Sioux City, five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Jennie Van Roekel, Mattie Peuse and Mrs. Alvin (Katie) Van Berkum, all of Orange City, and brother, Henry Peuse of Orange City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Den Ouden, and three brothers, William, Evert and John Peuse.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 5 at the Alton Reformed Church. Rev. Robert Vander Schaaf officiated. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
