Burdette Buffington, 63, of Hawarden, died Saturday at a Sioux Falls, SD hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday in the Dow Funeral Home, Hawarden. The Rev. Robert Wallinga officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Buffington was born Feb. 14, 1914 in Washburn, ND. He was a veteran of World War II. He married Jeanette De Vries, June 15, 1949, in Orange City. The couple moved to Hawarden in 1952 from Rock Valley.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Alvin of Westmont, IL, and Earl of Hawarden; two daughters, Miss Valerie and Miss Sandra, both at home; three brothers, Will, Ray and Warnie, all of Sheldon; a sister, Mrs. Max (Mabel) Hamann of Rock Valley, Iowa.
