Dr. Bert E. Landau, 76, of Hawarden, died Friday, December 25,1998, at the Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden.
Memorial services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden with Rev. Jeff Swanson of the American Lutheran Church officiating.
Dr. Bert E. Landau was born June 19,1922, at Shamokin, PA, the son of Bert and Mildred (Frahn) Landau. He served in the US Air Force from 1940 to 1945. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport in 1947.
Bert married Doris G. Haines on December 31,1946, at Sioux City. The couple lived in Sioux City for a year and then moved to Hawarden where he practiced Chiropractic for 35 years. He retired in 1984 and they moved to Sedona, AZ. They returned to Hawarden in 1996.
Bert was a member of the Hawarden United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Doris; six sons, Gregory and wife, Debby, of Scottsdale, AZ, Gary and wife, Mary, of DeWitt, Steven, of Baltimore, MD, James and wife, Candee, of Hawarden, William and wife,Peggy, of Hawarden, and Jeff and wife, Carrie, of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Jack and wife, Alice of Newark, DE; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Noah James Landau.
