DEATH COMES TO MRS. E. A. LARSON
Mrs. E. A. Larson, 78, one of Union county's pioneers, passed away at o'clock Monday morning in the Methodist hospital in Sioux City.
Mrs. Larson had been in frail health for more than 20 years, but for the past four years she had failed gradually. She was removed to the Sioux City hospital over two months ago.
Her remains were brought to Hawarden Monday morning and short funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral Home at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and at the Big Springs Baptist church at 2:30 with Rev. D. A Miller in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Esther Priscella Anderton, daughter of Charles A, and Mary Ann Anderton was born August 13, 1S67, near Milwaukee, Wis. Together with her parents, she came to Dakotta Territory in 1874. During her pioneer days she endured droughts, blizzards and grasshopper scourges. On October 14, 1888 she Was united in marriage with Eric August Larson at the Wm. Harding home near Alcester, Rev. Andrew Johnson officiating. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Nettie Winterlin of Sioux City and Aljie and Harold Larson of Hawarden.
Following her marriage, she lived on a farm southwest of Hawarden, where the son Aljie now lives. In 1910, she and her husband retired and came to Hawarden to live and she resided here ever since except for ten years, when she lived in Sioux City. Mr. and Mrs. Larson were privileged bo celebrate their golden wedding, as well as their 55th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Larson was preceded in death by her huslband, her parents, four sisters,Mrs. Sarah Harding, Mrs. C. A. Ericson, Mrs. Mathias Anderson and Mrs. C. J. Johnson. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild: two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Waterbury of Akron and Mrs. Harvey Cox of Albany, Ore., and two brothers, Charles F. and Albert J. Anderton of Alcester,
Mrs. Larson united with the Big Springs Baptist church in 1887 and remained a member untio her death.
