Death Claims 13-Year-Old BoyBurnell Carlson passed away at the Hawarden hospitalabout 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon following a breif illness. Burnell was taken ill Saturday, August 3rd, with pneumonia and almost at the same time blood poisoning developed in one of his knees. He had been swimming the afternoon preceding his illness and it is believed that this was the cause of his pneumonia and the blood poosoning developed from a scratch on the knee. He was removed to the Hawarden hospital last Friday in hopes that through constant medical care he might be spared but septic pneumonia had then developed and this was the immediate cause of his death.
Funeral servives were held at the Ross Funeral Home at 1:30 Monday afternoon, conducted by Mr. Albert Potter ofg Sioux Falls. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery.
Burnell Eric, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John O Carlson, had spent his entire life in this city. He was born Sept. 25, 1921, so lacked a little more than a month of being 14 years of age. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, Curtis, at home, and one sister, Mrs. Maxine Donze of Johnson, Neb.; his grandmother, Mrs. C.E. Nelson of Hawarden and a number of othert relatives. His death comes as a hard blow to the members of his family and sincere sympathy is extended to them in their bereavements
