DEATH CLAIMS MRS. MIRFIELD
FORMER HAWARDEN LADY DIED JULY 8TH AT HAMBURG
Resided Here From 1911 to 1919 During
Which Time Mr. Mirfield Conducted Jewelry Store

Mrs. Ralph Mirfield, former well known Hawarden lady, passed awny suddenly at her home at Hamburg, Iowa, on Friday, July 8th, according to word received by The Independent from Mr. Mirfield. Funeral services were held at the Mirfield home in Hamburg the following Sunday, conducted by her pastor, Rev. S. R, Overholser, and the body wns then taken to the old home at Goshen, Ind., for interment.
Grace DeWeese Weatherhead was a daughter of Alonzo and Mary Weatherhead. She was born at Goshen, Ind., Aug. 28, 1880, and departed this life July 8, 1927, at the age of 40 years, 10 months and 10 days. She spent her girlhood in Indiana where her mother died when she was quite young and she assumed the mother's place, keeping
the home and caring for the younger children to whom she wns more of a mother than a sister. She was united in marriage to Ralph Mirfield in
1910. In the spring of 1911 they came to Hawarden when Mr. Mirfield purchased the jewelry business of Graves & McPhail. They remained in Hawarden until 1919 when Mr. Mirfield disposed of his business to H. W. McAllister and the following year they located at Hamburg, where Mr. Mirfield has since been engaged in the jewelry business.
Mrs. Mirfield united with the Reformed church when a girl, later unitng with the Presbyterian church, of which she was a most faithful and
loyal member. During her residence n Hawarden Mrs. Mirfield was active in club and social affairs and was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends who will learn with sincere sorrow of her death.
Besides her husband she is survived her aged father, Alonzo Weatherhead of South Bend, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. A. A. Neff of South Bend,
IN; Miss Romayne Weatherhead of Chicago, and Mrs. Frank W. Wise of Ihicago; and two brothers, Wilbur of Inglewood, Calif., and Virgil of Bremen, Ind.
