Agnes De Groot,98, of Hull died on Sunday, December 31, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley
Services were Thursday at American Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Philip Sbeller and the Rev. Perry De Groot officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull
Mrs. De Groot was born on October 23, 1897, in Le Mars, the daughter of Kornelus and Suie(Bylsma) Nettinga. She moved to Perkins with her family at the age of 5. On February 20, 1920, she married Peter De Groot at Perkins. The couple farmed at Perkins until 1932, when they moved to a farm northeast of Hull. In 1954, they moved into Hull. He died on May 26, 1978, at Hull. In July 1992, she became a resident of Valley Manor
Mrs. De Groot was a member of the American Reformed Church, where she had been involved in Reformed Church Women Ministries. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hull
Survivors include two sons and thier wives, Donald and Janet of Hull and Paul and Muriel of Omaha; two daughters and their husbands, Sylvia and Henry Gaalswyk and Judith and Marvin Foreman, all of Lakewood, California; a daughter-in-law, Clarretta De Groot of Doon; 15 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and a sister Alice De Boer of Orange City.
She was also preceded in death by a son Kenneth; an infant daughter; a grandson, Tom Gaalswyk; five sisters Dena, Catherine and Susan Nettinga,Jennie Warntjes and Julia Harmelink; and two brothers, Gerrit and Cathrinus Nettinga
