G. E. RAYNIE PASSED AWAY AT HOME SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Was 47 Years of Age and a Native of Kentucky.—
Survived by Wife and Three Children
G. E. Raynie passed away at 5 o'clock Sunday evening at his home, two miles west of Hawarden, following a brief illness from pneumonia.
Mr. Raynie was taken ill on Tuesday of last week when engaged in field work and death claimed him in less than a week.
Funeral services were held from the home at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church in Akron, Rev. Wilson Gow of Sergeant Bluff, former pastor of the Methodist church in Akron, being in charge. Burial was made in the Akron cemetery beside his daughter,
who passed away five years ago. Gora Ezekiel Raynie was born in Logan county, Ky., July 15, 1886, and passed away April 22, 1934, at the age of 47 years, 9 months and 7 days.
When -he was twelve years of age he moved with his parents to Greenville, Ky., where in 1910 he was united in marriage with Gertrude Robertson. To this union were born four children.
One daughter passed away five years ago at the age of four. After his marriage he continued to make his home in Kentucky until sixteen years ago when he moved to this vicinity, locating near Akron. This spring he moved onto the J. E. Tilgner farm, two miles west of Hawarden; When he resided in the Akron vicinity he attended the Methodist church and united with the organization four years ago. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Elnora Whittecar of LeMars, and two sons,. Haydon, 22, and, Eugene, 5, at home, He also leaves one brother, J. I. Raynie of Hawarden and four sisters, Mrs. J. S. Greenwood, Mrs. Marcellus Williams, Mrs. George Johnson and Mrs. S. E. Hale of Greenville, Ky.
Mr. Raynie's death comes as a great shock to the members of his family and sincere sympathy is extended to the sorrowing ones who have been deprived of the guidance of a loving husband
and father.
Out of town relatives who came to attend the funeral were Mrs. Marcellus Williams and Mrs. S. E. Hale and children, James and Rhea, and Renus Greenwood of Greenville, Ky.; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Whittecar of LeMars; Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Robertson, Clyde Robertson, Roy Robertson and Mrs. Floyd Robertson of Mellette, S. D.
