D. O. Miner, 71, of Santa Barbara CA., a former Hawarden resident, died at his home last Wednesday following a heart atack. Mr. Miner had apparently been in good health until he was stricken.
Funeral Service were held at Haider Chapel in Santa Barbara last Saturday and burial was at that place.
Darwin O. Miner was born on a farm near Hudson March 25, 1875, where he lived until he was married to Carrie Finnie. He farmed in the Hudson vicinity for a time and later he bought the John Finnie farm north west of Hawarden. When he retired he came to Hawarden and lived here until 25 years ago when he moved to CA. He is survived by his wife, three children, Gordon Miner and Mrs. Frank Morley of Santa Barbara CA., and Mrs. Ransom Allen of Bakersfield, CA; three sisters, Mrs. Ross Smith and Mrs. Roy Smith of Hudson SD, and Mrs. S. W. Thomas of Faith SD. and three brothers, Barton W. Miner of Jamison OR; Herbert C. Miner of San Benito TX, and Milo Miner of Rapid City S\D and several grandchildren.
Mrs. Miner has been an invalid for the past 15 years following a stroke and during all thses years Mr. Miner cared for her.
