Delia De Roos, 98, formerly of Hull died Wednesday in Beaumont CA.
Services were held in the American Reformed Church of Hull with Rev. Herman Van Galen officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery of Hull under the direction of Kraai Oolman Funeral home.
Mrs. De Roos, formerly Delia Meyink was born August 31, 1885 in Sioux Center IA; In 1904 she attended Normal Institute at Hull, which was above the old Davidson Opera HOuse.
She marreid Will De Roos January 22, 1907, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meylink in Carmel. They made their home in Hull and on January 22, 1977, they commemorated their seventieth anniversary with an open house at the American Reformed church.
Her husband died on April 28, 1977, after which she lived at the Pleasant Acres Nursing home for several months and then went to live with her daughter in CA.
She was a member of the American Reformed chruch and was actively involved in church and communtiy affairs. She was a member of the Ladies aid, a charter member of the Guild, Supt. of the Junior Sunday School and classical representative of the women's board of Domestic Missions of East and West Classis. She was presented a life member certificate W.B.D.M of Reformed Chruches.
She was correspondent for severl years to papers including the local Hull Index, Sheldon Sun, Sioux Center News, Alton Democrat, Rock Valley Bee, and the Sioux City Journal.
During the Depression in 1932, she was in charge of the Red Cross and distributed government material for Clothing, shoes and flannel for newborn babies. This also included seed corn for farmers during planting time.
She was also a midwife and assisted Dr. Gerrit Maris and Dr. Oelrich. For fifty years she baked and cooked for weddings and Junior Senior Banguets in Sioux county.
Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Blanche Dunnick and one foster daughter, Pearl Bos Reibling, who came to live with the De Roos family at the age of 5; seven grandchildren and seventee great grandchildren.
