Mrs. O. De Roos Dies
The sad news was spread about Hull Monday noon, that Mrs. O. DeRoos had passed to the great beyond. She had suffered much, for some time, with cancer of the brest, and although saddening, death came as a great relief to the patient sufferer.
Trintje VanderStoep was born Nov. 21 1860 at Pella, Marion County IA, from which place she moved with her parents in 1871 to Sioux County to a farm west of Orange City.
On the 12/13th day of Feb. 1879 she was married to Oepke DeRoos. They resided on a farm five miles southeast of Orange City until 1891, from whence they moved to their farm one mile east of Hull. Here they farmed until 1908 when they moved to Hull, their present home.
To this union eleven children were born one of whom died in infancey. Those surviving with the father are: Fannie (Mrs. I. Claerbout of Cedar Grove WI) Johanna (Mrs. C. Ver____? of Orange City), Agnes Mrs. R. Dethmers of Sheldon), Mary (Mrs. R. VandeVegte of Rock Valley), John and Andrew of Rock Rapids, Josie (Mrs. B. VanderSchaaf), Frank, Mina (Mrs. H. W. Huibregtse and Harriet, all of Hull IA.
Thirty-six grandchildren and three great grandchildren are also in this succession. all these with four brothers, Frank, of Orange City, Floris of Edgerton Mn, Klaas of Denver, Andrew of Sioux Center, and one sister Mrs. P.L. Schoep, of Sioux Center, mourn the loss of mother and sister.
Mrs. De Roos was a faithful wife and true Christian Mother. Her life ...(most of rest of the paragraph was ilegible...
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the home and from the First Reformed church, the services being conducted by the pastor Rev. G. H. Douwstra, and the remains were laid to rest in Hope Cemetery.
The sympathy of all are with the bereaved husband, children and the other relatives.
