Death Calls Albert De Raad
Ireton and community are mourning the passing of one of its residents who was highly esteemed by all who knew him. Albert De Raad was called by death at his home in Ireton at 8:30 last Thursday evening, December 5th, after an illness of several months from cancer and diabetis.
Funeral service were held from the home at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon and at 1:30 at the Methodist church with Rev. G. C. Aalberts of the First Reformed church in charge. It was one of the larges funeral Ireton has witnessed. The church was filled to capacity. The floral decoraions and tributes were beautiful. A mixed quartette sang...... lists pall bearers....
Albert De Raad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira De Raad, was born near Alton January 29, 1874, where he grew up. On August 29, 1899, he was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Van Mavern at Alton. to this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters, Mrs. J. M. McDougall of LeMars; Arthur of Ireton; Mrs. Edwards J. Koops of Denver CO. Arthur of Watertwon SD and Miss Edna at home. Soon after their marriage they moved to Maurice where they farmed. In 1905 they moved to Lakota ND, where they farmed for 10 years, coming back to Sioux County in 1915 when they located on a farm near Ireton. In 1928 they moved to Ireton and he made his home here continuously since that time. Mr. De Raad was a member of the First Reformed church and his life was a real example of the faith he had. He was careful and considerate and was a real husband and father, neighbor and friend.
