Leonard De Raad, 83, of Sioux Center died Saturday, January 5, at Sioux Center Community Hospital.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home, Ireton. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
De Raad was born July 24, 1918, at Ireton, the son of Henry and Nellie Popma De Raad. He worked as a farm laborer before moving to California. He married Gertrude Groen on February 15, 1941, at Las Vegas Nevada. They farmed in the Rock Valley area until moving to Bellflower CA, where he worked for Rockwell on space projects until retirement in 1978. He helped in landscaping before moving to Sioux Center in 1985.
Survivors include his wife: two sons Ronald De Raad of Newbury Park CA, and Steve and his wife Donelle De Raad of Alcester SD, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Art. Frank, Woodrow and Harvey DeRaad; and two sisters Margaret and Fances Miller.
