Services held at Ireton Church for Mrs. Minnie DeRaad
Ireton. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Friday December 7, for Mrs. Minnie DeRaad, 78, who died the previous Wednesday following a long sickness.
An Ireton resident for 40 years, Mrs. DeRaad spent the past five years with her children in Lemars and Denver CO. She was born at Alton on May 31, 1878, and grew to young womanhood there. She (Minnie Van Mavern) was united in marriage to Albert De Raad at Alton on August 30, 1899. Mrs. De Raad died in December 1940. The deaths of the couple occurred exactly 16 years apart to the same day.
Survivors include three daughters; Mrs. Weston Karr and Mrs. Judson McDougal of LeMars and Mrs. Ida Koops of Denver CO; two sons, Leon DeRaad of Ireton and A. W. De Raad of LeMars. There are 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Ireton. Rev. Hareld Hanko was assisted by the Rev. Gradus C. Aalberts of Winnebago NE. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, beside the remains of her husband in the family plot. all of the children were present for the last rites.
