Sioux County Capital of Orange City(4-10-1941)

After a lingering illness of several months, Evert De Groot passed away at the Oelrich hospital at the age of 72 years. Mr De Groot was born on April 19, 1868 at Weesp, Netherlands and came to America in 1920 first living in Colton, SD., for a short time and in Sioux Center the remaining years. In 1924 he was united in marriage to Julianna Molinaar who with their two sons Arie and Anthony both of Sioux Center are left to mourn his departure. He was preceded in death by a son who died in infancy

Funeral services were held in the First Chr. Ref. church on Monday March 31, with Rev. Arnoys officiating. Pall bearers were James Hollander, John Smith, Ben Vermeer, Jake Verrips, John Van Oostbree and A. Ten Harmsel. Interment was in the Sioux Center cemetery
