Mrs. Hugo (Martha) Lechtenberg,96, of Granville, Iowa passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the Paullina Care Center after a brief illness.

Services were held on Saturday March 3, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville, Iowa with Msgr. Kenneth Seifried and Rev. Carl Ries officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Granville under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen, Iowa.

Martha was born on March 22, 1904 at rural Luxemburg, Iowa to Ernest and Katherine (Stephen)Goebel. She was raised and educated in the Luxemburg area. She married Hugo Lechtenberg on November 25, 1925 at Luxemburg. They made their home in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1928 they moved to near Granville where they farmed until retiring and moving into Granville in 1964. Hugo died April 27, 1983. Martha had been a resident of the Paullina Care Center since November 7, 1996. She was a memner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and church Guild.

Survivors include one son, David and his wife Betty of St. Peter, MN.; two grandson and their wives, Brad and LeAnn of Faribault, MN.,Scott and Mary of Blomington, MN. seven great grandchildren Jacob, Charles, Emma, and Anna Lee Lechtenberg all of Faribault, MN, Luke, Andrew and Ben Lechtenberg all of Bloomington, MN., one brother, Gene and his wife Helen Goebel of Luxemburg, Iowa; four sisters, Othilda Shermaan of East Dubuque, IL., Helen Hatch of Lancaster, WI., Louise and her husband Art Ries.(Missing part of obit)
