Harry G. Miller, 77 of Hudson SD, long-time Hudson mayor and business man, was dead on arrival Sunday at a Sioux Falls Hospital after he was stricken while bowling in Sioux Falls.
Services were a 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the first Congragational church in Hudson. The Rev. Milo Sheldon officiated. Burial was in the Eden Cemetery under the direction of the VanDeMore Funeral Home of Hudson.
Mr. Miller was born Nov. 1, 1900, in Sioux county, IA near Hudson. He married Dorothy Alexander Setp 15, 1936 in Hudson.
He owned and operated the Harry Miller Gagarge for the past 52 years and served as mayor of Hudson for 36 years, from 1941-1977. Prior to that he was a member of the town board for four years.
He was president of the Colonial Manor Nursing home board of directors, chairman of the board of the State Bank of Hudson, Chairman of the board of trustees of the First Congregational church, a present member and past director of the South Dakota Auto Dealers, a member of the Hudson Community Club and a 51 year member of the Husson Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include the widow; a son Charles of Davenport; two brothers, Ernest and Clarence, both of Rock Valley, and two grand children.
