Mrs. Kathryn E. De Haan, age 81, of Orange City, passed away Friday, Oct. 17 at the Orange City Municipal Nursing Home.

Kathryn Elizabeth was born Nov. 17, 1904 at Middleburg, the daughter of Anthony Vander Wilt and Minnie Holster Vander Wilt. On Dec. 25, 1924 she married Herman M. De Haan at Middleburg. They farmed northwest of Orange City for five years and then moved to town. For many years Mr. De Haan was the paymaster at sale barns in Sheldon, Orange City, Lemars and Sioux Center. She retired about 1975. In June of 1984 Mr. and Mrs. De Haan became resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. She transfered to the nursing home in March of 1985.

Mrs.De Haan was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City and the Lydia Circle of Reformed Church Women.

Survivors include her husband "Herm", three sons, Delbert of Orange City, Rodney of Winter Haven, Fla., and Adrian of Plano, Tex.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Anthony and Adrian Vander Wilt and a sister, Cynthia De Valois.

Funeral services were held Monday Oct. 20 at the Frist Reformed Church. The Rev Frank Snuttjer,vivitation pastor and the Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt, a nephew officated. Interment followed at West Lawn in Orange City under tyhe direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
