Marion E. De Haan,78, of Orange City, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochchester, Minn.

Marion Frank was born Oct.29, 1909 at Orange City, the son of Gerrit J De Haan and Gertrude Roetman De Haan. On June 2, 1945 he married Christina De Weerd at Newkirk. They farmed northeast of Orange City where Marion was born and raised. In January of 1977 they retired into Orange City.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City where he served as organist, choir director and Sunday School teacher. He also has served as choir director at the First Reformed Church of Maurice and the Carmel Reformed Church. In addition, he arranged for music at the Heritage House Nursing home, the Pioneer Memorial Home and the Hope Haven Residential Training Center, all in Orange City. He also gave Piano lessons.

Survivors include his wife , two sons, Gary of Sioux City and Robert of Orange City; two granddaughters; sister, Anna Roetman of Orange City and four brothers, Chris of Rock Rapids, Gary of Sun City, Calif., Bernard of Sioux Falls, SD., and S. John of Des Moines.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Carrie Vande Brake and brother Henry G.

Funeral services were held Tuesday Feb. 23, at the First Reformed Church with the Rev. Dr. Cecil Martens and the Rev. Robert Vander Schaaf officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
