From the Sioux County Herald of Jul 10, 1895.
Mrs. Aartje Tott, whose serious illness we mentioned last wek, died yesterday evening at hte home of her son, Amel (Amen or Emil?) in this city.. She had been sick about two weeks, during which time sh was kingly attended by her five sons who survive her. Deceaswed was 69 year of age, was born in Holland and had been in this country 12 years; she was a devoted Christian and a member of the First Reformed church of this city. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. from the First Reformed church, conducted by Rev. Kolyn.
(It was reported in the Alton Democrat that she was also the mother of Gerrit Rozenboon of Alton. So she could have been married eartlier in her life to a Rozeboom, however in the 1885 census she was Aartje Tott, age 57, with the following children living with her, George Tott 30, Bertha Tott 2, Julius Tott 14, Carel Tott abe 18, Herman Tott age 17, and Amen Tott age 13. (suspect George was a step son as there were five sons mentioned at her death.) Her husband George Tott is listed as being buried in West Lawn cemetery 1821-1883. Aartje 1828-1895.) George Sr. is listed by an ancestry account as being born in Germany, and his children, Aartje is listed as born in the Netherlands as well as her son Gerrit Rozenboom, lends to some confusing aspects.)
