Died: On July 4th , 1895 the beloved wife of Martin Allen, at her home four miles south of here. The deceased had been sick with consumption for nearly a year, still her demise came very suddenly to the members of the bereaved family. She leaves a husband and several children besides other relatives to mourn her loss. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing family.

Mrs. Martin Allen, residing five miles north of Hawarden, died last Thursday. The remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery at this place Friday afternoon. Mrs. Allen was the sister of Mrs. Margaret E. Austin D. Jones.
(these two different obits have the death place in entirely different locations.)
After much searching, One clue was 14 Apr. Tom Burke was sick at his son-in-law Martin Allen. In 1901 Austin Jones of Sioux City was guest at Martin Allen. Upon checking the Sioux County marriage records it was found that Martin Allen age 36 years a farmer from Eden SD, Irish b. Ireland, to Peter Allen and Ann Ryan, married Mary Burke 25, b. Canada (Irish) to Thos. and Mary Burke, married Apr 9, 1895 at Hawarden IA by Rev. T J. Sullivan Catholic Priest. Family could not be found in the 1900 census to confirm children's names. )
