Dorothy Marie Borchers, 88, of LeMars, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at Park Place Estates in LeMars. A Celebration of Life Service was Nov. 19, at St. John Lutheran Church, Craig, with the Rev. Barb Hansen officiating. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Craig. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Dorothy Mare Jahn was born April 13, 1920 on the family farm in Sherman Township, rural Sioux County, the daughter of Fred Jr. and Martha (VanderHamm) Jahn. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Reading Township, rural Ireton. She attended school at Maurice, and graduated from Maurice High School. Dorothy was united in marriage to William H. "Bill" Borchers on Nov. 7, 1940 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Ireton. Dorothy and Bill farmed in Preston Township until their retirement in the early 1980's. They continued to live on the family farm during retirement. Bill died on Feb. 23, 1990. In 1995, Dorothy moved to Akron and later moved to Park Village Court in April of 2007. She moved into Park Place Estates in September of 2008.

Dorothy was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Craig. She enjoyed participating in the Ladies Guild, Martha Circle, church quilting, and was very instrument in establishing and publishing the church newsletter, the "Behold".

Survivors include her four children, Dennis Borchers of Brunsville, Glenda Ullrich and her husband Bert of Sgt. Bluff, Carole Rembe of Sgt. Bluff, and Mary Parkinson and her husband Craig of Akron; 11 grandchildren, Matt (Heidi) Borchers, Scott (Hannah) Borchers, Mark Ullrich, Aaron Ullrich, Joshua (Angela) Rembe, Jennifer Rembe, Jodi Rembe, Michael Parkinson, Andrea Parkinson, David Parkinson, and Sarah Parkinson; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Jasper of Hawarden, and Lucille Rockwood and her husband of Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Borchers; and a brother Harold Jahn.
