Beatrice H. Borchers, 93, of Ireton died Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Akron Care Center in Akron. Funeral services was March 29 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, with the Rev. Pete Petersen officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Carlsen Funeral Home in LeMars was in charge of arrangements. Condolences maybe sent to the family at carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Beatrice Helen Eilts Borchers was born July 19, 1911 on the family farm near Ireton, the daughter of William and Adeline (Vander Hamm) Eilts. Bea was baptized on Aug. 20, 1911 and confirmed on Aug. 14, 1928 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reading Township, near Ireton. She began her education at a country school north of Craig and later graduated from Ireton High School. She furthered her education at Iowa State University in Ames and later completed her teaching requirements at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She returned to the Craig area and taught at the same country school she attended.

Bea was united in marriage to Louis Borchers on March 14, 1931 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. They farmed in Preston Township until their retirement in 1976.

Bea was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Craig where she belonged to the W.E.L.C.A. and participated in other church activities.

Survivors include a son Lloyd Borchers of LeMars; a daughter, Maurine Laux of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Inez Borchers of Ireton; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Borchers on Sept. 26, 1992; and a son, Myron Borchers in 1991.
