Mrs. L. A. Cobb Passes away.
Aged 68 years had been a resident of Ireton for 17 years.

Mrs. L. A. Cobb after an illness of several months passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. B. Smith last Friday night. The cause of the lady's death was paralysis and for the six weeks prior to her death scarcely any nourishment was taken by her. Her vitality was remarkable.
The funeral was held Sunday from the house, Rev. J. P. Linn, perfroming the last sad rites over one who had been loved so dearly in life. The choir sang appopriate and beautiful songs. Many handsome floral offferings decked the bier. The funeral was atttended by a large number of friends and neighbors who had known the deceased in life. Interment was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Leona Arabelle Taylor Cobb was born near Utica NY August 27, 1825. In 1844 her family went to Illinois by way of the Great Lakes. For a number of years her father owned a large dairy from in Illinois where she grew to wonamnood. She received her education largerly from her father and taught school for some time. In 1860 she was married to F. A. Cobb of Andalusia IL. In 1874 they moved to western Iowa living in a log house on a farm for one year. In the spring of 1878 they moved to Sac county, Iowa and took charge of a large farm. In 1880 their newly built house was swept away by a tornado but out of the clouds of trial and loss the sunshine at last shone. In 1887 the family moved to Ireton which has since been their home.
Mrs. Cobb's husband died in 1895 and since that time she has lived alone here near her daughter Mrs. H. B. Smith. Five children mourn the loss of a kind and thought ful mother: E. B. Cobb and J. A. Cobb, of Norcorss MN, A. H. Cobb of Sheldon; C. S. Cobb of Sidney and Mrs. H. B. Smith of Ireton.
