Was a Pioneer Homesteader and later conducted a Hotel in Ireton for years.

Hugh Davison (sic Davidson) of Ireton, died at the city hospital on Sunday., folowing a long illness caused by a cancer in the bowels. Mrs. Davison (sic) was brought from his home in Ireton to the hospital in this city several weeks ago for treatment.
Last week attending physicians decided that life and death were in the balance and that an operation was the only chance. it was performed but the patient after rallying breifly, succumbed.
Mr. Davison (sic) was a pioneer settler of Sioux county, where he farmed for many years. When the Northwestern was built in 1882 and the town of Ireton was started Mr. Davison (sic) moved into town and built a building in which he conducted a hotel He was well known and popular in a large circle and in early day Le Mas was his trading point and he had many acquaintences and friends here.

Mr. Davison (sic) was about sixty-eight years of age and was a veteran of the civil war, serving continuously for four years during the strife. A short time ago he retired from active business. His wife has been with him while he has been at the hospital. He leaves also two sons, George, living in Sioux county and Lewis who is in Washington, and a daughter Mrs. Klein of Marcus. The body was shipped to Ireton yesterday for internment, accompanied by Mrs. Davison (sic) and her son. (He was also the father of Mary Davidson born 1870 Mrs. Elmer Hoffmire who died 1895)
