Rock Valley, IA: Alvina De Zeeuw, 88, died Thursday April 3, 2008 at Hegg Memorial
Hospital, Rock Valley. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Wednesday at First Reformed Church,
Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery. Rev. Mike Van Hamersveld will be officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday until 5 pm at Porter Funeral Home and with the family present 6:30-8
pm Tuesday at First Reformed Church.
Alvina was born May 13, 1919 at Inwood, IA, daughter of Alfred and Jennie (Burggraaf)
Beckman. She married Gilbert De Zeeuw on June 30, 1938 at Inwood. Together they lived in
Rock Valley where Alvina was active in the First Reformed Church including the Martha Circle,
Women Ministries, Fellowship Club, and the choir.
Alvina is survived by her husband, Gilbert; daughters, Donna Mae(Garold) Den Herder of Sioux
Center, IA, Sandra Jean (Charles) Ver Steeg of Rock Valley; son, Arlen (Evelyn) Dc Zeeuw of
Hawarden, IA; 10 grandchildren, Gary Den Herder, Todd Ver Steeg, Doug De Zeeuw, Terry De
Zeeuw, Brenda Grond, Leah Horstman, Carla Sandbulte, Gwen Starkweather, Gail Negaard, and
Wendy Welty; 27 great-grandchildren.
Alvina was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Jennie; brother and his wife Arie and Anne Beckman, and brother, Fred Beckman.
