SIOUX CENTER—Beverly Jean De Boom, 47, Wauchula, FL, formerly of Sioux Center died Friday, Nov. 3, at her home.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Beverly De Boom, daughter of John E. and Greta De Zeeuw was born Nov. 21, 1958, in Des Moines. She had been a resident of Wauchula, FL, for the past 22 years. In her teenage years, she made profession of faith in Jesus Christ at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. She graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1977. She marned Ian De Boom, son of Richard and Betty (Bonnema) De Boom, on March 21, 1980, in Sioux Center. After moving to Florida, while raising her family and maintaining full-time employment, she earned a master’s degree in business. She went on to become a computer and business instructor at Hardee Junior High School in Wauchula, FL She also was president of the Hardee County Teachers Union for four years until she became ill. She participated in the "Positive Intervention Acad emy" program for youth in school. She taught "Extreme Fellowship of Christ" youth group Sponsored by
Heartland Community Church. The youth in this group were dear to her. It was said, "She did so much, but never wanted to take credit for anything." She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wauchula, FL, where she was a devoted youth leader and Sunday School teacher. She was a Relay for Life Participant, enjoyed riding horse with her family, and collecting Dutch dishes and pictures. She was especially fond of spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, and her travels home to Sioux Center to visit family.
Survivors include her husband, Jan De Boom of Wauchula, FL; two sons, Justin De Boom of Clermont FL, and Jesse and Crystal De Boom of Wauchula, FL, two grandchildren her parents, John E. and Greta De Zeeuw of Sioux Center; two brothers, Mark and Sandy De Zeeuw of Brandon SD, and Paul and Sherri De Zeeuw of Sioux Center; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Betty De Boom of Sioux Center;. two sisters-in-law Pam and Mike Huistein of Sioux Center, and Pat and Gary Kraayenbrink of Venice, FL, a brother-in-law, Rick and Kay De Boom of Hawarden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob De Zeeuw.
