HARTLEY—Fred DeBoom, 91,
Hartley, died Sunday, Oct. 24, at his residence.
Services were Wednesday, Oct. 27, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hartley, with Father William Wingert officiating. Burial was at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn, under the direction of Sanborn and Hartley Funeral Home Service.
Fred DeBoom, son of Adrianus and Arrigje "Alice" (Van Dam) DeBoom, was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Archer. His elementary years were spent in a country school around Archer.
He moved with his family to Hartley at the age of 10. He. graduated from Hartley High School.
He married Winifred O’Keefe on Aug. 26, 1941, in New London. They spent most of their lifetime farming near Hartley, until retiring and moving into the town of Hartley in 1977.
He enjoyed farming, carpentry work, and gardening. He cherished the time he could spend with his grandchildren and his cat, Miss Kitty He and his family appreciated the loving care he received and wish to extend their thanks to Vicky Conway, Bonnie Rudlaff, Ghana Pearce, Arlene Meerdink and Cindy Johnson.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary and Gene Mohnj of Spirit Lake; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, William DeBoom of Sheldon and Fritz DeBoom of MorenoValley. CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred DeBoom; four brothers, Adrian DeBoom, Peter DeBoom, Cornelis DeBoom and Marienus DeBoom; and five sisters,Alice, Nellie, Wilma, Gertrude and Ann.
