Mrs. Mary Hemmingson, age 97, of Alton, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2000, at the USA Health Care Center in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Chruch in Alton. The Rev. Ft. James Tigges officatied. Interment followed at St. Mary's catholic Cemtery under the driection of the Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mary was born October 1, 1903 in Morris MN, the daughter of Henry and Leone Splear Gacke. As a child, her family moved to Iowa.
On November 2, 1921, she married Theodore Hemmingson at Rock Valley. They lived in Rock Valley, Hawarden and Alton. Mr. Hemmingson passed away August 11, 1969 in Orange City. In 1996 Mrs. Hemmingson became a resident of the USA Health Care Center.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cahtolic Church and the Rosary Society. She was a seamstres and homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Aileen Miller, and Her companion, William Russell, of Fort Dodge; a daughter in law, Hermina Nebben, of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Dee Miller, Toni Geis, Robert Miller, Vickie Baker , and Ginger Bladon; Twelve Great grandchildren, and sixteen great great grandchildren.
In additon to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Ted Hemmingson; a grandson, William Miller; five brothers and four sisters.
