Nicholas Eugene Weyer, 54, of Rapid City, SD, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005 at the Fort Meade V.A. Medical Center, Sturgis, S.D. Funeral services were held Sept. 19, 2005 at First Church of God in Rapid City, with the Rev. Jacob Jurado. Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD, with military honors provided by the Sturgis Honor Guard.
Nick Weyer was born July 22, 1951 in Hawarden, the son of Peter and Hattie Weyer. He graduated from Hawarden High School in 1970. He served in Korea, when he was in the Army for six years. When he returned from the service he got a degree at the Vocational School in Sheldon for truck driving. He began an eight year truck driving career that took him 700,000 miles across this great country.
He married Carole Harvey on June 3, 1992, in Hawarden. The couple moved to Rapid City one year later. Nick was a member of First Baptist Church in Hawarden, First Baptist Church in Rapid City, and First Church of God in Rapid City, where he currently served at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Weyer of Rapid City; daughters, Crystal Van Pelt of Bellingham, Wash., Dawn Mulder of Hermosa, S.D., Cheyenne Luken of Atlanta, GA., Courtney Ali of Centennial, Colo.; son Joshua Harvey of Alcester; sisters, Laurene Brown of Akron, Mary Ann Geveshausen of Beresford, Carolyn Bertram of Little Rock, IA., Beveryly Weyer of Sioux Falls, Patty Trevathan of Sheldon; brother, Jerry Weyer of Yankton; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Weyer, mother, Hattie Weyer and nephew, Timothy Brown.
