HENRIETTA (VREEMAN) HEUSINKVELD was born to Gerrit W. and Christina (Kosters) Vreeman at Sioux Center, Iowa on January 14, 1921. She was raised at Sioux Center where she attended school through the ninth grade.
On September 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Lester J. Heusinkveld in Kanawa, Iowa. Later in life Etta and Les served as custodians for 16 years at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. In 1966 they founded the Heusinkveld Book Store which they operated for 10 years out of a portion of their home. Lester preceded Etta in death on July 3, 1984.
Etta was a devoted member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center where she participated in women’s ministries. In her later years she was actively involved in the Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion Programs of Rock Valley.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Sye Henry Roghair of Alton; daughter-in-law, Dolores Schipper and husband, Wally of Ireton, son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Donna Heusinkveld of Chandler, AZ; seven grandchildren: Laura (Alan) Grigsby of Hinton, Jody (Scott) Dadisman of W Des Moines, IA, Brian Heusinkveld of Sioux Falls, SD, Bruce Heusinkveld of Britt, IA, Beth (Travis) Tiedemann of Papillion, NE, Stacey (Jason) Kendler of Queen Creek, AZ, Jennifer Tepper of Long Beach, CA; ten great grandchildren: Alyssa, Daniel and Karen Grigsby, Mark, Kyle, Lynae and Bethany Dadisman, Brooke Heusinkve!d, Brandon and Melissa Tiedemann. Etta is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Marie Shepherd of Sioux Center and Sena Vreeman of Sheldon along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Etta was preceded in death by her son, Leland "Hap" Heusinkveld; daughter, Mary Ann Heusinkveld; two grandsons: Mark and Daniel Roghair; her parents; four brot hers: John, Hein, Dick and William Vreeman; six sisters: Gerdena De Vries, Gertrude De Boom, Christine Den Herder, Ella Den Herder, Bertha Rensink and Lenora Heynen.
