PASSED AWAY: February 21, 2008; Remsen, Iowa
AGE: 84 years, 9 months, 24 days

Viola was the daughter of James and Gertrude (Slickers) Jasper. She was raised on a farm southwest of Orange City, where she graduated from the Christian School.
On October 12, 1944, she married Henry W. Huitink at Orange City. They farmed on the Huitink family firm near Newkirk for 35 years. In 1990, they moved to Orange City.
Vi was a homemaker, serving as mother and farm wife. In earlier years, she also did bookkeeping for the Sioux Oil Company in Orange City. Later, she did house cleaning.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church. She enjoyed sewing, baking, singing, and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of more than 64 years; six children and their spouses, Carol and Jack Oolman and Leona and Jerry De Boer, all of Orange City; Wilson and Marilyn Huitink, of Sloan; Jim and Lorri Huitink, of Hospers; Diane and Marlin Vollink, of Orange City; and Harlan and Nelva Huitink, of Hospers; grandchildren, Kathy and Tony Fedora, Terry and Beth Oolman, Dan and Heidi Oolman, Mark and Aggie De Boer, Maria and Quenton Nelson, Jonathon Huitink, Jeanette Bohlke, Kerri and Jim Mertz, Eric Huitink, Wade Vollink, Joshua Vollink, Mikayla Vollink, Heath Huitink, Paige Huitink, and Bryce Huitink; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Marion (Wilma) Jasper, of Sioux Center; Harriet Sprik, of Mitchell, South Dakota; Elsie Meendering, of Sioux Center; Vernon (Helene) Jasper, of Seal Beach, California; Gertrude Tucker, of Alamo, Texas; and Clarence (Betty) Jasper, of Orange City; three sisters-in-law, Clara Jasper, of Ontario, California; and Eunice Huitink and Mina De Smit, both of Orange City; and many nephews and nieces, including Linda De Smit, of Orange City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, Jessie (John) Jeltenia, Jim (Henrietta) Jasper, John (Kate) Jasper, Arie (Bernice) Jasper, Rena (Tony) Huizenga, Alice (Carence) Haarsma, Ray (Eleanor) Jasper, Hermina (Ray) Terpstra, George Jasper, and Vera (Clarence) Huitink; and three brothers-in-law, Henry Sprik, Albert Meendering, and Arie De Smit.
