Reka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam C. Hulstein, was born on December 21, 1900 at Sioux Center, Iowa. She attended a rural school in the Sioux Center vicinity.
She was united in marriage to Joe Horstman of Sioux Center on February 17, 1926. They made their home on a farm west of Sioux Center, later moved to rural Orange City, and then into Sioux Center in 1964. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, Iowa. She had been active in women’s organizations and a former Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Horstman passed away October 17, 1985 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital at the age of eighty-four years, nine months, and twenty-six days.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Gerrit J. of Hull, Iowa and William of Sioux Center, Iowa; one daughter, Evelyn (Mrs. Leon Koele) of Sheldon, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-two geat-grandchi Idren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, five brothers, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
