John L., son of Jake and Bessie Harskamp was born June 16, 1928 at Ireton, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Shirley De Jager of Maurice, Iowa on June 23, 1950 at Maurice. Their married life was lived at Sioux Center and later on a farm near Boyden, Iowa.
He passed away on Monday, May 17, 1982 after a long illness at the Sioux Falls Veteran’s Hospital at the age of fifty-three years, eleven months and one day.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; a son Daniel Lee of Primghar, Iowa; a daughter, Leanne Beth (Mrs. Larry Jahns) of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Harskamp of Sioux Center, Iowa; a brother, Donald of Storm Lake, Iowa and a sister, Marjorie (Mrs. Bert Lems) of Inwood, Iowa.
He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center, Iowa and a Veteran of the Korean War.
