Mrs. Dorothy Hofmeyer, 81, died at her home Sunday afternoon following a long illness.
She was bor n, on July 19, 1895, on a farm near Orange City , the daughter of Henry and Alice Niemeyer. Mrs. Hofmeyer was married to John W. Hofmeyer on December 1, 1915 at Orange City and spent her entire life in the Orange City area. Her husband John preceded her in death in 1958.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, the Faith Hope, and Love Society, Thy Kingdom Come, Ladies Zangkoor, Hospital Auxiliary, the Northwestern College Auxiliary and the Unity Christian High School Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, John W. D. Hofmeyer of Fayette, Iowa , two daughters, Mrs George (Henrietta) Tamminga of Broadview, Illinois and Mrs. Marlyn (Joan) Bonnema of Orange City, also seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, one grandson, three brothers and to sisters.
