October 7, 1917 - October 21, 2010
Mr. Wilbur Techen, age 93, of Hull, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, October 23, at 2:00pm, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull. The Rev. Steven Mehl will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be the hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Wilbur Arnold Otto was born on October 7, 1917, in rural Hull, the son of Henry C. and Martha (Schlossin) Techen. He was baptized on December 2, 1917, and confirmed on April 9, 1933.

He farmed on the Techen family farm, north of Hull, for 75 years. In the summer of 1992, Wilbur and his sister, Tillie, moved to the Centennial Apartments in Hull. He transferred to the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull in December of 2008.

Mr. Techen was a lifetime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include seven nephews and nieces, Ronald Techen and Dale Schmith, both of Hull; Dean Schmith, of George; Lila Hatting, of Sibley; Kenneth Schmith, of Fredericksburg; Nancy Nielsen, of Hull; and Wesley Schmith, of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Arthur Techen; three sisters, Mathilda Techen and Esther and Amy Schmith; a nephew, Orlin Schmith and a niece, Sharon Boeve.
