Mrs. Violet Mouw, age 91, of Orange City, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, October 25, at 11:00am, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Jonathan Opgenorth will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a prayer service on Monday, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Sunday, with the family present from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at the funeral home.

Violet Angeline was born on October 17, 1919, in rural Alton, the daughter of Anthony "Tony" and Jennie (Beltman) Schuller. She was raised at Alton, where she attended a country school.

On June 21, 1940, she married Henry Otto Mouw at Alton. They farmed northeast of Orange City until 1971, when they moved into Orange City. Henry passed away on May 19, 2006, in Orange City, after almost 66 years of marriage.

In July of this year, Vi became a resident of the Long Term Care Facility.

She was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church.

Although primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Mouw also decorated cakes and in earlier years, did taxidermy. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and flower arranging, especially at Tulip Time in Orange City.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, John and Karen Mouw, of Morrison, Illinois; Sharon and George Bonnema, of Luverne, Minnesota; and Donald and Julee Mouw, of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Michael Mouw, and his wife, Dawn; Scott Mouw, and his wife, Michelle; Julie, and her husband, David Haugom; Amy, and her husband, Pete Mullenberg; Jill Bonnema; and Nicholas Mouw, and his wife, Ann; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Schuller, of Alton; and the Rev. Dr. H. Robert Schuller, and his wife, Arvella, of Garden Grove, California; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, John Henry; a great-grandchild, Hadleigh Mullenberg; two sisters and their husbands, Jessamine and Gerrit Vander Pol and Margaret and Arthur Reekers; and a sister-in-law, Alberta Schuller.
