Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Dreier, former Hawarden resident who died Wednesday of last week just four days before her 80th birthday at a nursing home at Casper, Wyo., were held Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Alvord, Iowa, with burial in the Rock Valley cemetery. The rosary attended by several from here, was recited Friday evening at the Jongewaard Funeral home at Rock Rapids.
Mrs. Dreier nee (Kersbergen) was born June 21, 1884, in the province of Gronigen in The Netherlands. She was the widow of Henry J. Dreier who operated a lumber yard at Hull, Iowa. She resided in Hawarden when her son Jack Dreier, and family lived here. Mrs. Jack Dreier is the former Helen Kennedy, sister of Miss Ruth Kennedy
From here she moved to Sioux Falls to be with her daughter, Hester and worked in the alterations department as head seamstress at Kopel's until a couple of years ago when her health began to fail. She then went to Casper, Wyo., to make her home with her son Jack and family. Later she was taken to a nursing home for care.
Survivors include a son, John at 2417 Odell Ave., in Casper, Wyo., a daughter, Mrs. A(Hester) Finch of Sioux Falls and four grandchildren, including the former Rita and Nada Joan Dreier, all of whom attended the Funeral. Rita is Mrs. Jack Lamoureux of Minneapolis and Nada is Mrs. Charles Schneider of Casper.
