Funeral services for Herman Hagge,80, who died in the Hawarden hosptial last Thursday were conducted Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Ireton by Rev. O.F.Pittack, pastor of Trinity Luteran church of Hawarden Interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton with the Barnard Funeral home in charge.

Mr. Hagge, the youngest and only survivors of eight children born to Claus Hagge and his wife Margaret, nee Grill, was born at Lowden, Iowa., December 17, 1883. When he was two years of age his mother died and later he accompanied his father to Sheldon before coming to Sioux county to reside on a farm northeast of Ireton. Here he was engaged mostly in farming as a hired man. For several years he also lived in Sioux City where he took care of his father, who had become a familiar wheel chair resident of that city during the last two years of his life.

Mr. Hagge had held the position of township trustee, school director and secretary of the Ireton Co-op association for 25 years. On March 16, 1910, he married Mary Zimmerman of Ireton with Rev. Hugo Schwenk, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, performing the ceremony. During the next 26 years he was engaged in farming and retired to Ireon in 1936.Ten years later, on June 5, 1946 his wife died. During the past year Mr. Hagge had been in and out of the hospital serversl times.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, two brothers, John and Henry Hagge and five sisters, Mathulda Hillmer. Mary Husman, Minnie Pereboom, Emma Bertram and Sophie Kirby.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cornie (Mildred) Vander Mei and Mrs. Earl (Leona)Brandt, and six grandchildren, all of Ireton.
