James Brown
James Edward Brown, Jr., 44, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at his home.
Services will be held Thursday, June 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the Calvary Christian Reformed Church Rev. John T. Ebbers will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.
Mr. Brown was born Aug. 27, 1942, in Ottumwa, the son of James E. Sr. and Marge (Pilcher) Brown. He married Helene Sorgdrager, Feb. 17, 1966, in Ottumwa. The couple had lived in Orange City for the last 10 years. He was a supervisor at Hope Haven prior to becoming diabled.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Lutheran Deaf Church and served as president of the Worthington Deaf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Helene; one son, Mark and two daughters, Jody and Susan, all of Orange City; his father, James E. Brown, Sr. of Kansas City, Mo., and a brother, George, of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, David.
