J. M. Brown
Last Sunday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Sioux City, IA, occurred the death of J. M. Brown of Ireton The news of this sad and untimely death brought pangs of grief to every heart in the community for he was one of the most highly respected citizens. The event is made more sad because of. its suddenness, few even of his intimate friends being apprised of the fact that his condition was critical. Some two weeks prior to his death he consulted physicians at Sioux City. On their recommendation he submitted to an operation for appendicitis. While he seemed to recover from the effects of the operation, yet his condition was not improved. Everything that skilled physicans could do for him was done but of no avail.
It was evident that his time had come and on Sunday morning, at a little after 8 o’clock, the spirit departed.
The deceased has lived in and around Ireton for over 24 years. During that time he has gained the respect and esteem of the entire community. He was a practical and up-to-date farmer, owning valuable property almost adjoining town, and on which he had just completed a magnificent residence, modernly equipped.
He was a man noted for his integrity, in business his word being his bond.
The remains were brought home from Sioux City on Sunday evening. The funeral which was a very largely attended was held from the home on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W.J. Creswell, assisted by Rev. J. P. Linn.
